Sentence Fragment

An incomplete sentence missing a subject, a main verb, or a dependent clause standing alone.

The Rule

A complete sentence must have at least one main subject and one main verb expressing a complete thought.

Examples

Incorrect

Because I was tired.

Correct

I went to bed early BECAUSE I was tired.

💡 Pro Tip

Never start a standalone sentence with 'Because' or 'Although' without an accompanying main clause.
